Good news for those old school imperialists using PowerPC Macs! Patch 1.1 for Rome: Total War Gold Edition is out now, and it adds support for machines with G5 processors. This patch also fixes some rare bugs that players encountered in the initial release, and we’ve added a couple of goodies, including a cheat, intriguingly called “the ‘Jerry Maguire’ code.”

Intel players who already have the game simply need to open the Rome application, and the game will prompt to automatically update. PowerPC players will need to download the patch manually from the Rome minisite, by following this link.

So far Rome: Total War has been one of the most popular games we’ve ever released and we are delighted to be able to bring the proud legion of PowerPC players into its generous orbit. And now we have acquired a taste for platform expansion our sappers are eyeing new frontiers, although we’re not sure about their plan to bring it to the Apple II…
