THE RESISTANCE
From the scattered and defeated XCOM forces, the Resistance is an organisation of human fighters taking the fight to Earth’s alien overlords.

Central Officer Bradford
Forced to retreat during the first alien invasion, Central has returned as junior commander of the XCOM forces.

XCOM's Chief Engineer has inherited her father’s life's work: to defeat the alien invaders once and for all.

Once he saw how his work increased ADVENT's control over humanity Tygan fled his ADVENT employers and joined the Resistance.

Rangers
Nimble scouts who wield a shotgun and sword, they scope out a battlefield from the shadows before ambushing enemies with deadly, close-range attacks.
Grenadiers
Equipped with a grenade launcher and cannon, Grenadiers have a simple solution to the alien problem: just blow everything up.
Sharpshooters
Snipers that deal high damage from long range with devastating precision. They are also expert gunslingers, and carry a pistol for close encounters.
Specialists
Masters of tech with a great ability to hack terminals and turrets. They also use the GREMLIN, an unmanned support drone, to attack enemies.
Psi Operatives
Abilities include Soulfire, which doles out guaranteed psionic damage, and Domination, which turns enemies into allies.

Reapers
Human loyalists living on the fringes of society, Reapers specialise in infiltration and stealth marksmanship.
Skirmishers
These offensive powerhouses are former ADVENT soldiers who have rebelled against their masters.
Templars
Monastic soldiers who use psionic energy to master advanced skills, such as warping reality to swap positions with other XCOM soldiers.
ADVENT
Rumoured to be staffed by human volunteers, ADVENT is an organisation dedicated to enforcing the alien regime.

Troopers
ADVENT's standard soldiers, equipped with automatic Gauss rifles.
Officers
Troopers are led by ADVENT Officers, elite units capable of aiding nearby soldiers.
Shieldbearers
Defensive powerhouses, the ultimate support units.
Stun Lancers
Psychotic melee units with no regard for their own safety. Stun Lancers will sacrifice everything to close with XCOM soldiers and strike with their Shock Lance.
Mecs
Extremely durable and lethal robotic heavy support units.
Sectopods
Highly mobile bipedal robots boasting dangerous area-of-effect and focused attack capabilities.
Priests
Powerful Psionic units that can lock enemies in place, or use mind control to turn them against each other.
Purifiers
Flame-throwing units designed to combat hordes of the monstrously mutated humans known as The Lost.

Assassin
A stealth-based katana-wielding unit with unmatched close-range melee skills.
Warlock
The Warlock can summon exploding spectral zombies, teleport allies to different locations, and infect XCOM soldiers with madness.
Hunter
A powerful ranged unit who tracks XCOM units across the map, then wounds and disables them before striking the final blow.

Sectoids
Infused with human DNA, Sectoids now have more imposing frames and deadlier Psionic abilities than those that arrived on Earth during the first invasion.
Vipers
Using their long tongues, Vipers can pull units from cover and into the open.
Berserkers
Berserkers are merciless combatants and have the potential to become enraged, increasing their attack range and damage output.
Mutons
Alien-human DNA manipulation has created Mutons, a deadly combination of brute force and human intellect.
Chryssalids
Chryssalids poison soldiers, transforming them into cocoons from which three more Chryssalids emerge.
Archons
Archons impress with a god-like presence, but behind the regal bearing stands a calculating killer.
Faceless
The Faceless stand nearly one story tall, with massive reach and strength.
Andromedons
Every Andromedon sits inside an advanced Battlesuit and can devastate XCOM soldiers with powerful melee strikes.
Spectres
Spectres have lightning reflexes, and can vanish from sight. They also possesses the Horror ability, which damages the enemy and heals themselves.
The Gatekeeper
The Gatekeeper can reanimate corpses as Psionic zombies.
Codex
Appearing in a state of constant flux, these beings are raw computational power given physical form. Capable of teleporting behind XCOM lines to flank with powerful beam weapons, the Codex is reported to clone itself when damaged.
THE LOST
Once human, The Lost are husks that roam cities devastated by bombardment and bioweapons. They appear to be mindless, ambling shells, but once disturbed, they swarm in overwhelming, relentless hordes. The Lost have no allegiance, and will attack XCOM, ADVENT and aliens alike.
