  1. Will Middle-earth™: Shadow of Mordor™ GOTY work on my Linux distro?

    Middle-earth™: Shadow of Mordor™ GOTY has been fully tested on Ubuntu 14.04.2. For the best gameplay experience, we recommend you use this distro.

    The game should also work on other recent versions of Ubuntu, and may also work on other Linux distros; however, as the game has not been tested on these, it is possible that you will encounter performance and gameplay issues, and we do not currently offer support for other versions or distros.

  2. Which graphics cards and driver versions are supported by Middle-earth™: Shadow of Mordor™ GOTY?

    The graphics card series and driver versions below have been tested, and these and higher series or versions will run the game without issues:

    Nvidia

    Series: 6xx
    Driver version: 352.21

    NOTE: Open-source graphics drivers are not currently supported by Middle-earth™: Shadow of Mordor™ GOTY. Unfortunately, the current open-source Nvidia drivers do not support a number of the graphical features used in the game.

    AMD

    AMD graphics cards are not currently supported by Middle-earth™: Shadow of Mordor™ GOTY.

    If you wish to play the game using an AMD graphics card regardless, we recommend that you update your graphics driver to AMD Catalyst version 15.7 or higher. You should be able to run the game without experiencing stability issues or graphical glitches, but you may still experience poor performance.

    Intel

    Intel graphics cards are not currently supported by Middle-earth™: Shadow of Mordor™ GOTY.

  3. Does Middle-earth™: Shadow of Mordor™ GOTY support achievements?

    Yes, achievements are supported by Middle-earth™: Shadow of Mordor™ GOTY.

    If you are signed in to Steam, your achievements will be visible to you in-game and also to other players through the Steam application.

  4. How do I obtain DLC?

    All available DLC for Middle-earth™: Shadow of Mordor™ GOTY can be purchased from the game's page on the Steam store:

  5. How do I access DLC?

    Once purchased, you can access DLC as detailed below.

    The Bright Lord
    The Bright Lord is an additional campaign mode, which is separate from the main story.

    To play The Bright Lord, select PlayThe Bright Lord from the Main Menu.

    The Bright Lord also includes The Bright Lord character skin (see below).

    Lord of the Hunt
    Lord of the Hunt is an additional campaign mode, which is separate from the main story.

    To play Lord of the Hunt, select PlayLord of the Hunt from the Main Menu.

    Lord of the Hunt also includes the Lord of the Hunt character skin and the Test of the Wild challenge mode (see below).

    Trials of War
    The Trials of War are challenge modes, which include:


    To play the Trials of War, select PlayTrials of War from the Main Menu.

    Power of Shadow
    Power of Shadow includes The Power of Shadow character skin and three runes (see below).

    Warband missions
    The warband missions give you the chance to earn epic runes by defeating Uruk captains and their entourages.

    They can be played at any time during the main story. Their locations are shown by red “Confrontation” mission symbols on your map.

    Character skins
    You can use character skins to change Talion's appearance during the main story.

    To change Talion's skin, select PlayChange Skins from the Main Menu.

    Runes
    Runes will be added to your inventory automatically. To view your runes, press the Escape (esc) key to enter the in-game Pause menu, then select Weapons & Runes.

    HD content
    To enable high-definition textures, select OptionsAdvanced Options from the Main Menu, then set Texture Quality to Ultra.

  6. Can I play Middle-earth™: Shadow of Mordor™ GOTY with a gamepad?

    Yes.

    The game supports gamepads using the SDL 2.0 API. For more information about SDL, see the SDL Wiki.

    The gamepads in the following list have been tested and are supported by Middle-earth™: Shadow of Mordor™ GOTY:


    The pads below are also supported by SDL and you should be able to use them to play Middle-earth™: Shadow of Mordor™ GOTY. However, as they have not been tested with the game, we cannot guarantee that they will work:


    If you encounter problems when using any of the gamepads listed above, please contact our technical support team.

    * The Xbox One controller works by default with SteamOS, but will only work with Ubuntu 14.04.2 when using Linux kernel version 3.17 or above.

    ** In order to use your PlayStation pad with Middle-earth™: Shadow of Mordor™ GOTY, you may need to press the PlayStation button in the center of the controller after connecting the pad to your computer. This allows your computer to recognize the pad.

  7. Switching to a virtual terminal causes the game to crash or the graphics to render incorrectly. How do I prevent this from happening?

    Switching between a virtual terminal (by pressing Ctrl + Alt + F1-F6) and the X server (by pressing Ctrl + Alt + F7) while the game is running may cause the game to crash or the graphics to render incorrectly.

    The problem will be fixed the next time you launch the game.

    We do not recommend switching to a virtual terminal while running the game, as the problem is likely to occur each time you do so.

  8. Where are my saved games stored?

    Your saved games are stored on your computer in the following directory:

    .local/share/feral-interactive/ShadowOfMordor/SaveData


    By default, the .local folder is hidden from Files. To open it, follow these steps:

    1. Open Files.

    2. If you are not already viewing your Home folder, select Home from the pane on the left-hand side of the window.

    3. Press Control (ctrl) + H to reveal hidden folders.

    4. The .local folder will now be visible. Double-click the .local folder to open it.

  9. Where are the configuration files for the game stored?

    The configuration files control various in-game settings and options.

    We strongly recommend that you do not make changes to these files yourself, as doing so may cause problems with the game.

    You can find the configuration files by navigating to the directory below from your Home folder:

    .local/share/feral-interactive/ShadowOfMordor/AppData/WB Games/Shadow of Mordor

    By default, the .local folder is hidden from Files. To open it, follow these steps:

    1. Open Files.

    2. If you are not already viewing your Home folder, select Home from the pane on the left-hand side of the window.

    3. Press Control (ctrl) + H to reveal hidden folders.

    4. The .local folder will now be visible. Double-click the .local folder to open it.
