This document is intended to help you answer any questions that you may have about Empire: Total War
Empire: Total War has been fully tested on Ubuntu 14.04.1. For the best gameplay experience, we recommend you use this distro.
The game should also work on other recent versions of Ubuntu, and may also work on other Linux distros; however, as the game has not been tested on these, it is possible that you will encounter performance and gameplay issues, and we do not currently offer support for other versions or distros.
Yes, achievements are supported by Empire: Total War.
If you are signed in to Steam, your achievements will be visible to you in-game and also to other players through the Steam application.
All available DLC for Empire: Total War can be purchased from the Steam Store via this link:
Empire: Total War Downloadable Content Pack
You can choose between purchasing individual pieces of DLC and purchasing them all in a single bundle pack, the Empire: Total War Downloadable Content Pack.
To purchase your chosen DLC, follow the on-screen instructions.
Once purchased, DLC will automatically be enabled in your copy of Empire: Total War.
Playing a LAN multiplayer battle in Empire: Total War is slightly different depending on whether you wish to host the battle, or simply join it.
To host a LAN multiplayer battle:
From the Main Menu, select Multiplayer.
From the Multiplayer menu, select Local Network.
You will be taken to the Local Network screen. Click Host Battle.
You will be asked to choose the kind of battle you wish to fight. Select either Land, Sea, Siege or Scenario.
Once you have chosen, you will be given the option of adjusting your battle settings. You do not have to do this, but you must enter a valid Game Name before you can continue.
When you are ready, click Host Battle.
The Army Setup screen will appear, from which you can choose your faction and army.
When you are happy with your settings and all the other players have joined the game, click the Ready! button (tick icon) in the lower-right corner of the screen.
The game will begin once all the players have indicated that they are ready.

From the Multiplayer menu, select Local Network.
A list of available battles will appear. Select the one you wish to join, then click Join Battle.
The Army Setup screen will appear, from which you can choose your faction and army. When you are happy with your settings, click the Ready! button (tick icon) in the lower-right corner of the screen.
The game will begin once all the players have indicated that they are ready.

To play a quick battle in Empire: Total War using Steam, follow the steps below:
From the Main Menu, select Multiplayer.
From the drop-down menu that appears, click Total War Online.
You will be taken to the Total War Online screen. Select either Quick Land Battle or Quick Sea Battle.
You will be taken into a battle with the next available player.
To activate first person view during a battle, select a unit and press the Insert key.
You will then see the battle from the perspective of the selected unit.
To return to an overhead view, press the Insert key again.
NOTE: If you have remapped your controls, the required key may be different from that listed above. You can view and edit your current control configuration in the Controls menu (Main Menu → Options → Controls). The command to activate first person view is listed as Context camera under the Universal tab.
