  2. Does DiRT 3 Complete Edition support achievements?

    Yes, achievements are supported by DiRT 3 Complete Edition.

    If you are signed in to Steam, your achievements will be visible to you in-game and also to other players through the Steam application.

  3. Can I play DiRT 3 Complete Edition with a gamepad?

    Yes.

    The gamepads in the following list have been tested and are supported by DiRT 3 Complete Edition:


    If your gamepad is not on the list, email padsupport@feralinteractive.com and our support team will reply to you with a request for information about your device. Once we have this information, a gamepad support file will be created and emailed to you.

    Once created, this gamepad support file will be used in all future games and updates - so you will not only be helping us get your device working; you will also help all other owners of the same device who play Feral games!

  4. Are there any gamepads that are recognized but unsupported?

    Yes.

    The following gamepads will be recognized by the game, but do not have enough buttons or analog controls to support all the possible in-game controls, meaning some in-game tasks will require the keyboard or mouse:

  5. Can I use a steering wheel with DiRT 3 Complete Edition?

    Yes, most standard USB wheels will work with DiRT 3 Complete Edition. The wheels in the following list have been tested:


    You may need to map the game controls to inputs on your wheel and its components (such as pedals, if available) before racing. To do this, follow these instructions:

    1. Ensure that your wheel and any components are connected to your Mac, then launch DiRT 3 Complete Edition.

    2. From the Main Menu, select Options.

    3. Select Controls.

    4. Select Steer Left, then perform the action on your wheel to which you wish to map the “steer left” command.

    5. Repeat step 4 for all the other game commands, mapping them to the desired action on your wheel.


    NOTE: Force Feedback (FFB) is supported by DiRT 3 Complete Edition. Unfortunately, many hardware manufacturers do not provide Force Feedback drivers for Mac OS X. This means that Force Feedback may not currently work in DiRT 3 Complete Edition.

  6. How do I play a splitscreen multiplayer game in DiRT 3 Complete Edition?

    Before playing a splitscreen multiplayer game, ensure at least two input devices are plugged into your Mac before you launch DiRT 3 Complete Edition.

    Unless otherwise specified, the following instructions are written for Player 1:

    1. From the Main Menu, select Multiplayer.

    2. Select Splitscreen.

    3. A dialog will appear prompting Player 2 to press the Start button. Player 2 must press a button on their input device to continue.

    4. The Session Settings screen will appear, from which you can adjust your race settings. When you're happy with your settings, select Done.

    5. The race screen will appear, from which you can further adjust your settings. Select Change Settings to adjust the settings for Player 1, or select Player Two Options to allow Player 2 to adjust their settings.

    6. When you are ready to start the game, select Advance to Race.

    7. The Vehicle Select screen will appear. Select a vehicle.

    8. The Livery Select screen will appear. Select a livery.

    9. The Vehicle Select screen will reappear. Player 2 must select a vehicle.

    10. The Livery Select screen will reappear. Player 2 must select a livery.

    11. You will be taken to the service area. Adjust your settings if you wish, then select Race.

    12. Player 2 may now adjust their settings if they wish. Player 2 must then select Race.

    13. The race will begin.

  7. How do I play a multiplayer game in DiRT 3 Complete Edition over a Local Area Network (LAN)?

    How you play a LAN multiplayer game in DiRT 3 Complete Edition differs depending on whether you wish to host or join the game.

    To host:

    1. From the Main Menu, select Multiplayer.

    2. Select Local Network.

    3. Select Create Game.

    4. The Session Settings screen will appear, from which you can adjust your race settings. When you're happy with your settings, select Done.

    5. The lobby will appear, from which you can further adjust your settings. When you are ready to start the game, select Start.

    6. The Vehicle Select screen will appear once all the currently connected players have indicated that they are ready or after 15 seconds, whichever is the sooner. Select a vehicle.

    7. The Livery Select screen will appear. Select a livery.

    8. The game will begin once all the currently connected players have selected a vehicle and livery or after 20 seconds, whichever is the sooner.

    9. You will be taken to the service area. Adjust your settings if you wish, then select Race.

    10. The race will begin.


    To join:

    1. From the Main Menu, select Multiplayer.

    2. Select Local Network.

    3. Select Custom Match.

    4. Use the filters to select the type of game you wish to search for, then select Find Match.

    5. A list of games matching your criteria will appear. Select the game you wish to join.

    6. The lobby will appear, from which you can further adjust your settings. When you are ready to start the game, select Ready Up.

    7. When the host starts the game, the Vehicle Select screen will appear. Select a vehicle.

    8. The Livery Select screen will appear. Select a livery.

    9. The game will begin once all the currently connected players have selected a vehicle and livery or after 20 seconds, whichever is the sooner.

    10. You will be taken to the service area. Adjust your settings if you wish, then select Race.

    11. The race will begin.

  8. How do I play an online multiplayer game in DiRT 3 Complete Edition on Steam?

    How you play an online multiplayer game in DiRT 3 Complete Edition differs depending on whether you wish to host or join the game.

    To host:

    1. From the Main Menu, select Multiplayer.

    2. Select Online.

    3. The DiRT Party screen will appear. To invite friends from your Steam friends' list to the game, select Invite Friends. Otherwise, proceed to step 5.

    4. The Choose Friends to Invite dialog will appear. Click the Invite button next to the name(s) of the friend(s) you wish to invite, then select Return to Game.

    5. Select Jam Session.

    6. Select Create Game.

    7. The lobby will appear, from which you can adjust your race settings. When you are ready to start the game, select Start.

    8. The Vehicle Select screen will appear once all the currently connected players have indicated that they are ready or after 15 seconds, whichever is the sooner. Select a vehicle.

    9. The Livery Select screen will appear. Select a livery.

    10. The game will begin once all the currently connected players have selected a vehicle and livery or after 20 seconds, whichever is the sooner.

    11. You will be taken to the service area. Adjust your settings if you wish, then select Race.

    To join:

  9. Why can't I use ghost cars or upload my best race times to the leaderboards?

    Some online features, including ghost cars and leaderboards, may not work correctly if Steam Cloud synchronization is disabled.

    If you wish to use these features, you should make sure that Steam Cloud synchronization is enabled both for the Steam application and for DiRT 3 Complete Edition. To do so, follow both sets of instructions below:

    To enable Steam Cloud synchronization for the Steam application:

    1. If it is not already running, launch the Steam application.

    2. Select Steam from the menu bar at the top of the screen.

    3. Select Preferences….

    4. Select Cloud.

    5. Tick the checkbox labelled Enable Steam Cloud synchronization for applications which support it.


    To enable Steam Cloud synchronization for DiRT 3 Complete Edition:

    1. If it is not already running, launch the Steam application.

    2. Select Library.

    3. In the library, right-click on DiRT 3 Complete Edition in the list of games on the left-hand side of the window, then select Properties.

    4. Select the Updates tab.

    5. Tick the checkbox labelled Enable Steam Cloud synchronization for DiRT 3 Complete Edition.

  10. How do I switch my pad to the correct mode?

    Some gamepads support both DirectInput and XInput modes. These gamepads can be identified by a switch on them that has two options, “D” (DirectInput) and “X” (XInput).

    To play DiRT 3 Complete Edition a gamepad must be supported and set to DirectInput mode.

    Currently supported devices that have this switch are:


    If your gamepad has the switch and is not on this list, you will not be able to use it to play DiRT 3 Complete Edition without a pad support file. To obtain one, email padsupport@feralinteractive.com and our support team will reply to you with a request for information about your device. Once we have this information, we can usually create a gamepad support file and email it to you.

    To switch the gamepad to DirectInput mode, follow these instructions:

    1. If the DiRT 3 Complete Edition application is running, close it.

    2. Unplug the gamepad (or wireless receiver, if the gamepad is wireless).

    3. Turn the switch on the pad to “D”.

    4. Plug the pad or wireless receiver back in.

    5. Restart the DiRT 3 Complete Edition application.

    You will now be able to play DiRT 3 Complete Edition with the gamepad.

  11. Is DiRT 3 Complete Edition optimized for Retina displays?

    Yes.

    If you have a Retina display, you will be able to take advantage of the extra pixels by running DiRT 3 Complete Edition in native resolution. This means that the game will display one pixel for every pixel on your display.

    To do this, follow these instructions:

    1. From the DiRT 3 Complete Edition pre-game Options window, select the Video tab.

    2. Select the largest resolution from the Resolution drop-down menu to play the game in native Retina resolution.

    3. Click the Play button. The game will start in native Retina resolution.

    NOTE: In many cases, increasing your game's resolution will impact upon its performance. For tips on improving performance, read the Performance Tips point in the ReadMe. For information on how video settings affect performance in Mac games, read our Guide to video settings.

  12. Where are my saved games stored?

    Your saved games are stored in your game's preferences folder.

    To open this folder, click the Open Preferences Folder button in the Info/About tab of the pre-game Options window.

    You can also navigate to the preferences folder manually. It is stored in the Feral Interactive folder in your computer's ~/Library/Application Support folder (where the "~" symbol refers to your home directory).

    By default, the Library folder is hidden from your Finder. To open it, follow these instructions:

    1. Open the Finder.

    2. Open the Go menu from the main toolbar.

    3. Hold down the Alt (⌥) key. The Library option will appear.

    4. Click on the Library option. The Library folder will open in your Finder.

  13. How do I stop the dock, notifications and the desktop cursor from appearing while I'm playing DiRT 3 Complete Edition?

    The dock or notifications may occasionally appear while you are playing DiRT 3 Complete Edition, or the desktop cursor may replace the game cursor. This can disrupt a game.

    You can prevent them from occurring by checking the Hide the Dock (disables notifications) checkbox in the DiRT 3 Complete Edition pre-game Options window. To do so, follow these steps:

    1. From the DiRT 3 Complete Edition pre-game Options window, select the Advanced tab.

    2. Check the Hide the Dock (disables notifications) checkbox.

  14. When I press the Function keys (F1-F19) nothing happens. How do I use the Function keys?

    By default, macOS uses the F keys to control items such as volume and brightness. To use an F key for a game command hold down the fn key, then press the F key you wish to use.

    To automatically enable the F keys, follow these steps:

    1. Open System Preferences ( MenuSystem Preferences).

    2. Click on Keyboard

    3. Select the Keyboard tab.

    4. Check the Use F1, F2, etc. keys as standard function keys checkbox.

    The F keys will now work without using the fn key.

  15. How do I take screenshots in DiRT 3 Complete Edition?

    To take screenshots while playing DiRT 3 Complete Edition you should use the following key command:

    Command (⌘) + Control (ctrl) + P

    When you press all three keys at once, a single image of the on-screen contents will be saved in the Feral Interactive folder in your computer's ~/Pictures folder (the "~" symbol refers to your home directory).

    The JPEG image contains metadata in a string in the following format.

    GameName/Version Number (OS Version; CPU Speed; Installed RAM; Video RAM; Current Graphics Card)

    For example in DiRT 3 Complete Edition the string might look a little like this:

    DiRT 3 Complete Edition/1.0 (Mac OS 10.9.5; 2.8; 4.0 512; Radeon HD4870)

    This information can be easily removed by exporting the screenshot into a different format using Preview or another image editing tool.

    NOTE: None of the metadata stored can be used to identify the user.

  16. Can I run DiRT 3 Complete Edition in windowed mode?

    Yes.

    To run DiRT 3 Complete Edition in windowed mode, follow these instructions:

    1. From the DiRT 3 Complete Edition pre-game Options window, select the Video tab.

    2. Check the Run in a window checkbox.

    3. Click the Play button. The game will start in windowed mode.

    NOTE: Enabling windowed mode may decrease the game's performance.

  17. DiRT 3 Complete Edition runs slowly on my computer. Is there anything I can do to increase the speed?
