Deciding on a new job is tricky - it’s an important choice, but also one of the most difficult to get right.
Often that’s down to lack of information. Especially early in your career, it is hard to know whether a job is going to be fulfilling, and whether a particular environment is right for you.
As an employer we have a similar issue: it is important for us to accurately understand who can and who cannot do a particular job, and to identify who will be a good fit with our company.
This is where we start to try and fill in the information on both sides. In this section we provide a lot more background about Feral, hopefully enough to pique your interest and give you a better idea of whether or not this might be the place for you.
So if you are an aspiring developer, QA technician, marketeer, graphic artist or games designer, and any of the roles you see excite you, send us an application and we will give it our full attention.
And even if you don’t see a job that matches what you are looking for, but would like to work at Feral in another role, feel free to send us your details via our Contact Form.

Read on to find out more about the background and jobs of a few of the people who already work at Feral.
At university, I studied computer science during both my undergraduate and graduate degrees with a research focus on hardware-software interfaces.
I am now a senior lead developer at Feral Interactive and oversee our Android projects, working with other developers to make sure that our Android releases live up to the Feral Interactive standards in terms of performance and quality. And as part of the patches team, I ensure that any issues reported by players are resolved swiftly.
Talented colleagues, a friendly atmosphere, interesting projects, technical challenges, and the freedom to learn and grow in areas that interest me are only a few of the reasons I like working at Feral. This company gives me the opportunity to work on a variety of projects, some of which I also play and enjoy in my own free time.
I grew up in a creative family in the Northern Highlands of Scotland, graduating with a BA (Hons) in Communication Design from The Glasgow School of Art, specialising in Illustration. Not finding any suitable creative job openings upon graduation, I moved back to the Highlands and set up my own design business, working for clients across the UK for the following 3 years.
I’d always wanted to work as an artist in the games industry, but wasn’t sure how to get my foot in the door. I joined Feral Interactive’s marketing team as a Graphic Designer in 2018, and my illustration skills proved to be useful.
At Feral I have always been encouraged and given space to try new things and expand upon my skills. In 2019 I took up video editing with very little prior experience, resulting in an exciting few years producing trailers (particularly those for Alien: Isolation on Nintendo Switch and mobile), and animated splash screens. At the same time, I tried my hand at in-game art (and even some voiceovers), before eventually moving to UI art full-time as I was enjoying that the most.
The team has always wanted to bring out the best in me, and care that I’m happy in my work. I love how fluid my progression has been at Feral, and have no doubt that I’ll continue to find interesting new opportunities within the company in the future.
Historically, I have split my time between Feral’s QA and Localisation departments, testing games in the former and managing translations in the latter. After nearly 4 years here, I will soon be transitioning from QA to Design QA, which will give me a greater input into how we bring games to new platforms. Coming from a design engineering background, I am able to utilise my training in design thinking to help deliver good user experiences in our games; my technical knowledge has also helped me to identify the causes of problems and their possible solutions, and how to communicate these to my colleagues.
At Feral there is a lot of freedom to take ownership of work at project-level scales, and opportunities to work on a huge variety of games with fast turnarounds – things are always happening!
Hello! I have been working at Feral as a QA Game Tester and Customer Support Technician for the last 3 years.
I studied Web Design at Southampton Solent University, which has given me great awareness of the importance of user experience; this has been put to good use in my QA and Support roles.
My responsibilities include offering technical support to customers who have encountered issues (or simply have questions!), testing games across various platforms, executing playtests, analysing gameplay mechanics and communicating effectively with our development team.
Prioritising work-life balance is one of the things I really like at Feral. Team-building activities and a focus on personal development are part of the company's culture. And working alongside very talented colleagues who encourage me to contribute my ideas makes me feel a valued member of our team.
Hi - I’m Ben, I’ve worked at Feral as a Graduate Developer since June 2022 and have absolutely loved my time here. I studied Mathematics BSc at Durham University and Computer Game Engineering MSc at Newcastle University. Having worked on multiple titles such as Total War: MEDIEVAL II for mobile and Tropico for VR, I have vastly improved my programming skills. Usually working with C++, I have discovered some of the difficulties with porting games to different platforms and have learned to overcome them.
The confidence that I have gained both in my work and conversing with my peers has surprised me and I couldn’t be more grateful. The flexitime system has been my favourite perk, as the ability to manage my time the way I want has been crucial to my work-life balance. With so many wonderful and welcoming people here, the time does undoubtedly fly by!
I am currently studying for a degree in Computer Science at the University of Bath, and I was a placement student at Feral.
I started my year-long placement at Feral Interactive in the summer of 2023, and worked on the mobile versions of Total War: EMPIRE. This involved helping to implement a new user interface (suitable for mobiles/tablets) and new control schemes to interact with the game, fixing bugs/crashes whenever they occurred, adding new DLC content, and analysing user data.
The best part about working at Feral was that all my team members and coworkers were incredibly helpful and supportive. New starters are thrown right into the job, so we're working on a real game from day one, but you always have somebody to reach out to in case things get overwhelming. There’s a network of approachable people - including your mentor, reviewer, and other placement students - to turn to for support, so you’re always learning and growing throughout your placement. I am looking forward to rejoining Feral after my graduation.
As Head of Technology at Feral I oversee all of the technical departments, most notably the Game Development Team. I started doing some contract work for Feral 25 years ago and joined the company in this role in 2009.
I am extremely proud of what we have built here: A young and talented team of super-smart developers who are a pleasure to work with and to be around. Seeing them support, encourage and educate one another is an absolute treat. In particular, it is especially satisfying to see placement students and new graduates become experts in areas of the code and then share that knowledge with the rest of us.
We try not to pigeon hole people too soon, instead allowing everyone to find the areas which excite them the most and letting them expand their knowledge and expertise to suit.
My biggest pleasure is to see this group of individuals coming together to produce some great games, often acclaimed to be the best versions available on any platform.
Games are meant to be fun! It's my job to plan and execute the testing needed to make sure they remain that way as we bring great games to new platforms. I am here to help our testers develop their skills and maintain a high standard, report on project progress, and action requests from other departments.
My involvement with games began at college with an Extended Diploma in 'Creative Media for Games', which focused on 3D art, animation and game scripting. From college, I went on to university, completing a BSc in Game Design at Southampton Solent, where I learnt C# coding, design theory, and project management.
Feral is large enough to have the resources to complete ambitious projects, whilst remaining small enough for everyone to know each other and not be lost in the crowd. The work is rewarding, and given the range of genres our games we cover, very varied. Feral also has a focus on quality, where giving projects the time and resources needed to hit our standards is prioritised.
I joined Feral Interactive as a UX Engineer after finishing my Master’s in Human-Computer Interaction at the University of Nottingham. After completing my degree, I was on the lookout for a place where my passion for design and my technical expertise from my computer science background could come together. UX role at Feral turned out to be a great match.
Over the last year, I’ve had the opportunity to work on Total War: EMPIRE (iOS/Android), and let me tell you, the first game release is every bit as thrilling as you’d imagine. Here at Feral, my main responsibility is to design and implement UI elements, but I also get to contribute to the wider design process as part of the team. It’s such a rewarding balance—getting the space to be creative while collaborating closely with a small, supportive team. One of the things that I love the most about working at Feral is how much room there is to learn, try new things, and make an impact. Being part of this team has allowed me to take ownership of my work, constantly refine my skills, and grow faster than I thought possible. And to top it off, I’m getting the chance to work on a wide variety of games, including some I grew up playing and loving.
We are looking for smart people, who want to do difficult things, and do them well.
Our business is to bring great games to new platforms. Often that means extensive reworking of the original code, user interface and in-game textures and texts to make sure that our games work just as well on a new platform as they did on the original.
That is rarely easy to do, every project throws up numerous problems, puzzles and conundrums, but therein lies the challenge and the sense of achievement that goes with it.
If problem-solving is your thing, then you should talk with us about how you might fit at Feral.
CloseLife is too short to do anything other than something that brings you satisfaction, enjoyment and fulfilment. At Feral we offer an environment where taking work seriously is a must, but having fun is an indispensable part of doing serious work.
We only work on games we enjoy, licensed from partners we admire, and with colleagues we both like and trust, many of whom choose to socialise with each other outside work. It’s a place where you can do great things, but also make great friends.
We organise social events throughout the year, think cinema trips, BBQs, pub quizzes and pizza!
If this sounds like your idea of fun, and you can see yourself working at Feral, please get in touch.
